Back in South Africa!
At the moment in Pretoria sorting a few things, then heading to the coast, desperately in need of a beach holiday.
Khama Rhino Sanctuary
Camped in the sanctuary on our last night in Botswana. Sat on the folded up rooftop tent watching the rhinos - perfect place for it!
The Kalahari Desert
A little bit greener than expected, but for once we managed to visit a nature reserve at the best time for game viewing. The rains, albeit well over 30 degrees and clear blue skies for 95 percent of the time, bring plenty of grass to the pans. Could think of nowhere better to try out the satellite phone for the first time. No luck with the lions, which are suppesed to be "in abundance". However, we were very fortunate to see and capture a leopard on film as we were leaving.
Okavango Delta
During the rainy season (which we hadn't planned for) the Okavango river floods the delta and becomes impassable by car. Instead we took a scarily small plane piloted by Tony the Aussie and viewed it from above.

More Chobe Pics
An elephant foot print next to Anna's Birkenstock one; wrestling with the evening's firewood; and the only open track out of the park.

Where have all the elephants gone?
Having not seen one in the whole of Namibia we now know where they are hiding during the rainy season - Chobe National Park in Botswana. Spent two fantasic days driving through the park and saw loads. One even seemed keen to share our campsite!

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Took a day trip from Kasane in northern Botswana to Zimbabwe to see the Falls. As it's the rainy season at the moment, they were at their most powerful. Interesting but also very sad to see Zimbabwe in its current state. We were two of only 15 tourists visiting that day. It seems such a beautiful and friendly country and it would have been lovely to be able to see more of it.

Welcome to Botswana!
Seems like a while ago now; arrived in Botswana on the 4th February.

Katima Mulilo - last town on the Caprivi Strip
Spent an unexpected four days in this border town having the four wheel drive sorted. Have done away with temperamental Japanese technology and gone African with manual hublocks. No more getting stuck from now on! On the plus side, we stayed at a beautiful campsite overlooking the Zambezi river, though the hippos kept us awake at night.

Ngepi Campsite/Okavango River
The view from the bath tub.

Mundumu National Park
Spent an afternoon in this small nature reserve in northern Namibia, where a large troop of baboons was harassing zebras and wildebeasts.

Etosha National Park
A very small selection of photos from our three days in the park.

Twyfelfontain, Damaraland
Bushmen rock engravings dating from over 2000 years ago.

The Skeleton Coast
Flat, arrid and not another car in sight.
