We've got the car - and it works (after a few jump starts to get the battery going)!

We went up to Tabletop Mountain with Dave and Ange from Canterbury a couple of days ago. These are pictures from the view at sunset.

Arrived in Cape Town!

Pics from our first evening in Cape Town, having drinks by the waterfront. We've been here five days now and at the moment we're staying at a beautiful guesthouse just by the bottom of Tabletop Mountain. The car is due to be picked up on Monday. It wasn't as straight forward as we had hoped it would be and in the end we're having to use a local shipping company to get it through customs. Anyway, we'll hopefully have it in a couple of days and Cape Town is not a bad place at all to spend a week.

Modifications to the car

We've been sent these pics from Nene Overland showing the work that has been done to the car so far - leasure battery wired, security cage, 2nd spare wheel and light at the back mounted... It should be ready for us to pick it up in a couple of weeks time!

Our African home!

So, this is the car we'll be travelling in. Quite a lot of work will be done to it, both here in the UK and then once it has reached South Africa.

The car has been bought and tickets are booked! We're flying out to Cape Town Sunday 14th December.
