We'll be travelling for about 8 1/2 months across Africa, starting in Cape Town. The countries we're planning to visit are South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia. And if time and circumstances allow, we may well drive all the way back home to London - but that's yet to be decided...
Seems like a while ago now; arrived in Botswana on the 4th February.
Katima Mulilo - last town on the Caprivi Strip
Spent an unexpected four days in this border town having the four wheel drive sorted. Have done away with temperamental Japanese technology and gone African with manual hublocks. No more getting stuck from now on! On the plus side, we stayed at a beautiful campsite overlooking the Zambezi river, though the hippos kept us awake at night.
Ngepi Campsite/Okavango River
The view from the bath tub.
Mundumu National Park
Spent an afternoon in this small nature reserve in northern Namibia, where a large troop of baboons was harassing zebras and wildebeasts.

Etosha National Park
A very small selection of photos from our three days in the park.
Twyfelfontain, Damaraland
Bushmen rock engravings dating from over 2000 years ago.
The Skeleton Coast
Flat, arrid and not another car in sight.
Wednesday, 28 January 2009
Have arrived in Rundu after three days of animal viewing in Etosha National Park. Saw quite a lot of game, including zebras, lions, giraffes and wildebeast. From here we'll be heading east along the Caprivi Strip toward Victoria Falls, and then south into Botswana. Apologies for the lack of photos - the latest ones will be added as soon as we have access to faster Internet.

The Namib Desert Climbed the dunes at sunset. Unfortunately missed sunrise the following morning due to being stuck up to our axles in sand for the first (but definitely not the last!) time.
Home sweet home!
We finally made it into Namibia on the 13th of January. Wayne is fully kitted out for camping and the travels to come.

Namibia next! Fingers crossed that we'll finally be able to pick up our roof rack and tent tomorrow morning and then head up to Namibia. We've been in South Africa a little longer than planned, but that's how it goes. It's been lovely, but we're looking forward to starting the 'real' trip now.
Gecko Creek
Have just come back to Cape Town after 3 fantastic days at a nature reserve in the Cederberg Mountains. Not a lot to do other than taking in the views, going for walks and relaxing around the fire. Scarily the owner has a pet wolf as a guard dog.
Wine Tasting
Tried some lovely wines in the Stellenbosch and Franchoek regions. Visited Kanonkop, Hartenberg, Boschendal, Spier and Vergelegen. Shame we don't have more room in the car...
New Year's Day
Shark cage diving off the South African coast near a town called Gansbaai. Saw 6 Great Whites! No injuries to us...
